They are also very high motivation to achieve their dream instead of following the family wills and values.
There are some trends to determine the change of Gen Z
Generation Z are relying on the internet. According to research by a market research company, Cimigo Vietnam, 95 percent of them are online by any means such as desktops, laptops, smartphones or tablets. The Internet also plays a role as a tool for them to be separated with family members with most of the time spent online. Their communication with friends mostly are broader as they are utilizing the power of social network such as facebook, forums and messengers. In addition, most of their ideology and inspiration comes from online medium.
Lifestyle Role Model
If previous generations are choosing warriors or independent fighters as their role model, Gen Z have a different overview regarding this matter. They prefer someone with skills and influence to be their inspiration. This can be a politician, inventors, celebrities or Vietnamese businessmen. Some may choose late Steve Jobs as their idol and some others maybe will choose popular singers such as Ho Ngoc Ha as their idol. In another side of role models, Gen Z is also very obsessed to local famous blogs in order to keep updated with current trends and news.
Gen Z are always able to think “out of the box” and choose to live out from normal. This is why we always see many youngsters prefer to join reality TV programmes such as Vietnamese Idol, Vietnam’s Next Top Model and Vietnam’s Got Talent as they want to be noticed by others. Some of them might think, having a “paper” or Diploma is not so important, as long as they have talent to earn good income and grow big.
Referring to the same research by Cimigo Vietnam, one-third of Gen Z are experience seekers. Example, if others are preferring to work with stable companies and have a monthly fixed salary, Gen Z are more into “Entrepreneurship Spirit”. They are very hungry for experience and willing to face adventures in their career. Besides, Gen Z are interested with any current trending and this is such a big impact to global development. It’s a must for Gen Z to have cool gadgets, enjoying good meals and being in fashion as they know how to reward their hard work.
No matter what generation you are, we shall look at the positive side of the growth and continue to be competitive to face this globalization era. Generation Y might conflict in order to mix with Gen Z and its good to compliment the strength and weakness of these two generations.
