About The Vietnam Guide

The Vietnam Guide is an information source covering Vietnam topics, providing news and tips for people traveling, living and doing business in Vietnam. It is also a social network providing tools to help connecting Vietnam expats & travelers together.

The Vietnam Guide was founded by Hung Nguyen in 2010 with the purpose of helping foreigners to enjoy Vietnam and helping Vietnamese people to learn about other cultures. Nowaday, the mission and the idea haven’t changed, but we want to do even better.

The Team,

Making with love in Vietnam.

avatar karsten About The Vietnam GuideHi, my name is Kha and I’ve been living in Vietnam since 2009. I am a German anthropologist, specialised in Vietnamese prehistory and I am really enjoying my work and life here, researching about Sa Huynh, Cham and Oc Eo Cultures. During my stay, I experience a lot of things in this strange, sometimes really crazy country and I’m happy to tell you about that. You also can meet me at my nest on The Vietnam Guide, say Hallo to me here and Hello to me here.

Karsten Brabänder - Just an other people at The Vietnam Guide. He is trying his best to help people here. You may call him Kha - a writer @ The Vietnam Guide but in fact he is doing more than that.

Hey friend, before seeing more about us, we want to ask you 1 question....Yes! 1 question for you.

avatar paul About The Vietnam GuideMy name is Paul Kiley ( I am “Uncle Paul” to my friends at The Vietnam Guide) and I live in the USA. I am a Vietnam War Veteran and have shared the lives of the Vietnamese since 1962. In 2008, I brought my new Vietnamese wife and her son to the USA to see if they would like to live here. Because of the differences in Language, Foods and Culture, it has been a very interesting life for the last few years. In 2012, we went back to Vietnam to see how it would be to live there. I had many positive experiences and a few negative experiences. As a The Vietnam Guide writer I would like to share those points with the members. My objectives are to begin the discussions to evaluate where Vietnam fits in the world today. Maybe we can all learn a few new things.

avatar mrbee About The Vietnam GuideI first learned of Vietnam in September 1966 when I “went to war”. For the next 15 months, I turned 19 there, and was on gunboats in the fivers and canals of the Mekong Delta area. Now forward about 43 years, when I started giving English advice to young people in Vietnam. Over the years, I have made [and lost] many friends. I have many years of life experience to share with you and I have much love and compassion for the youth and people of Vietnam.

Mr. Bee - Editor, he is also a 'Founder' of The Vietnam Guide. He helped young Hung a lot at The Vietnam Guide 's very first days

avatar mrdanial About The Vietnam GuideI am Danial, a marketer by nature and a writer by choice for The Vietnam Guide. I was born in Malaysia. I started my career as a Human Resource practitioner for a retailer in Malaysia and my customer oriented characteristic flew me to Vietnam as a Property Negotiator before joining TVG company as a Marketer. I hope I can share my consecutive 5 years of living in Vietnam to my fellow expats and travellers friends in order for them to understand the culture, business opportunities and the safe way to travel and living in this country.

The Vietnam Guide has introduced me to many aspiring young people of Vietnam. We have shared stories of our families, our villages, our hopes and dreams. Together, we are building an understanding of what will be peace and prosperity in our future. Meeting my many friends and sharing some time with them was the happiest part of my recent trip to Vietnam. I love you all. - Paul, member
